source – ha! how about ‘everything’!
So, I mentioned previously about how I have a massively long list of “wedding DIY” and I wasn’t kidding! Spending far too much time admiring other people’s weddings via weddingbee, snippet & ink, 100 layer cake etc will unfortunately do this to you. I warn you now – if you’re a bride-to-be with even a slight creative streak there’s no way you’ll manage to resist being swept up in the pretty pretty extra details you can create if you go the DIY route for your big day. Don’t believe me? Go over to those sites right now and take a look for yourself! (Hey! stay and read the rest of the post first why don’tcha!).
Without further ado, here’s my list as it currently stands:
Bridal party accessories:
- birdcage veil {for the reception}/ hair flower
- bouquets & bouts
Venue decorations including:
- card box
- guestbook / family tree
- place cards
- table plan
- buffet menu
- candy buffet
- wreaths
- signage
- photobooth & props {including chalkboard photoframes}
- bunting / papel picado
- table centrepieces {Started}
- table runners
- table numbers
stationery/paper products including:
- thank yous
- invitations
- save the dates {CHECK!}
You’ll notice some things have been started, some are already complete, and some have already been nixed from the running (sadly the candy buffet went out when a friend offered us a free popcorn cart!). With such a massive list I decided not to procrastinate too much over my ideas but to simply get started and keep the projects moving forward.
The most time-consuming of these projects has to be our table centrepieces. I need to make at least 24 tissue paper pomanders and collect at least the same number of vintage cut glass candlesticks to put them on; this involves scouring thrift stores every other weekend, and will ultimately require (probably) many, many (…) hours of effort to make all the tissue flowers and attach them to polystyrene balls (all will become clear in a later post on this subject!).
Am I insane? Have you got a massive to-do list and what motivates you to keep going?
