I’ve already touched on my “somethings“, but today I want to talk about the one most important and close to my heart… my “something old”.

When I turned 18, my Mum gave me her mother’s engagement ring – a yellow gold band with a platinum setting holding a sapphire surrounded by six tiny diamonds. A gift to symbolise my coming-of-age I suppose, and I have worn it every day since first receiving it – but also a nice way to inherit a family heirloom which someday I hope to be able to pass on to my own daughter or grand-daughter. At the time, my beautiful Nonna was living in a nursing home and suffering from dementia; sadly she couldn’t really tell who I was anymore – often confusing me with my Mum and aunties.  Just a year later, Nonna passed away, just the weekend before my 19th Birthday.

(Me, Nonna and sister-MOH waaay back in the day – how’d you like our 80′s jumpsuits!)

A couple of weeks back, I had my first dress fitting. Don’t get too excited; I’m still holding out on you all and won’t be posting any pictures of either the dress, or me in it, until after the Mister has seen me in it for himself! Part of what made my fitting so exciting though, was getting to try on the beautiful veil I had become totally obsessed with when I first found my dress… in fact I think the combination of veil and dress was actually what made me say “it’s the ONE” rather than just the dress alone! why, yes I will wear them all at once!

We all know the drill… “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. Once I’d found my dress I needed to get started on accessorizing it and also trying to fulfil the old adage. Read the rest of this entry »

Ok, so after the earlier shock news about J Crew coming to the UK (kinda), today I have accidentally discovered that Anthropologie has stores in London, and sells online in the UK! Seriously now – how did I not know this already? After J Crew, Anthro has to be my second-fave ‘American’ store for bridesmaid dress inspiration.

MoH J would definately rock this cute little blue number:

Nautical-but-nice non? Me likey. Just picture it with a pretty bunch of yellow flowers and maybe some cute yellow shoes?

Have you been living under a rock like me? What stores do you covet but didn’t know were accessible to you?

I was going to post about my dress today, but I have just heard the most amazing news…

According to Glamour Magazine, Net-a-porter.com are about to start stocking J Crew for delivery in the UK. As yet, I can’t actually see anything on the net-a-porter website; but hopefully before long there will be a fabulous selection of pretty dresses which might potentially work as Bridesmaid attire for my Maid of Honour (and only sister), J.

So, what kind of pretty dress am I thinking – maybe something along these lines:

At present this is actually probably the only J Crew contender – but there will be a whole new season’s dresses before I need to make a decision, so perhaps we here in the UK will be able to lay our grubby little hands on some pretty pretty frocks in the not-so-distant future.

Whose wedding is it anyway?

About Me: I'm a born and bred Suffolk girl who loves glitter, inventing new words, going to the movies with my soon-to-be-hubby and am completely addicted to the Internet. I am highly skilled at making a mess, not so much at tidying up! I'm a detailed-obsessed craftaholic and can never seem to find enough hours in the day. In 2007 my Internet-addiction finally paid off in the form of my meeting the Mister; who accepts my inappropriate amount of crazy, and we've settled down together to plan our Spring wedding and take care of our two crazy kitties.
