We love to dance. In fact salsa dancing was one of the things that (indirectly) led me to the Mister. After we met, I invited him to join me at my weekly salsa class, where he caught on extremely fast and is now the master of one smooth set of moves! Considering our love of shaking our tail feather, finding a great band to play at our wedding reception was pretty high on our list of priorities. We wanted to find a band whose music would fit within a general era or style, rather than just playing pop covers, and potentially who could also play a couple of salsa tunes for us to kick off the party to. We both happen to be pretty big Motown fans, and also think that music of that era would be suitable for the wide range of ages represented at our reception (from the misters 3 yr old niece to my 84 yr old grandad!). We started our search looking at local bands and found a few condensers, but none able to span both the soul/Motown side as well as the Latin / salsa aspect we wanted to bring in. Cue Soul Fiesta; a London-based band we discovered via . not only do they have an excellent Motown and soul/funk repertoire, they also happen to be a kick-ass Latin band to boot! The only problem was they were waaay over our original budget; so we decided we needed a trip to see them perform live before we made a decision…
Needless to say, we didn’t take much convincing! Are you /did you having live music at your wedding? Do you think it adds to the party atmosphere?
