Soon after choosing our blue and yellow colour scheme, I began the hunt for Bridesmaid dresses. Since we’d settled on navy blue as the main colour and yellow as an accent, I loved the idea of the girls carrying bright yellow bouquets, held against a deep navy dress to make the flowers really *pop*. I found plenty of inspiration online, as well as finding a dress by Coast very early in the process – which sister-MOH (BM J) tried on and I instantly fell in love with. It was a strapless maxi dress, in silk with a gorgeous chiffon overlay. Light and floaty, but long enough to be warm if the Spring weather turns cool. However, back at that point I hadn’t settled on a dress for myself, and wasn’t 100% sure the navy blue would still appeal as time went on – so I held off and decided to wait until later in the year to look more seriously.
Ok, so there’s me and there’s him… but what about the other people involved in this little shindig of ours? It’s pretty important to both of us to have some of our favourite and most treasured people standing beside us and supporting us as we make our vows to one another – so who are they?! Ok, so after the earlier shock news about J Crew coming to the UK (kinda), today I have accidentally discovered that Anthropologie has stores in London, and sells online in the UK! Seriously now – how did I not know this already? After J Crew, Anthro has to be my second-fave ‘American’ store for bridesmaid dress inspiration.
MoH J would definately rock this cute little blue number:
Nautical-but-nice non? Me likey. Just picture it with a pretty bunch of yellow flowers and maybe some cute yellow shoes?
Have you been living under a rock like me? What stores do you covet but didn’t know were accessible to you?
I was going to post about my dress today, but I have just heard the most amazing news…
According to Glamour Magazine, Net-a-porter.com are about to start stocking J Crew for delivery in the UK. As yet, I can’t actually see anything on the net-a-porter website; but hopefully before long there will be a fabulous selection of pretty dresses which might potentially work as Bridesmaid attire for my Maid of Honour (and only sister), J.
So, what kind of pretty dress am I thinking – maybe something along these lines:
At present this is actually probably the only J Crew contender – but there will be a whole new season’s dresses before I need to make a decision, so perhaps we here in the UK will be able to lay our grubby little hands on some pretty pretty frocks in the not-so-distant future.
