One of my favourite places to stalk for inspiration has to be the Southern Weddings blog, and living in the UK means that its tricky at best to come across places to buy the physical paper version of the magazine*… so when the fantabulous Kat of UK-based RocknRollBride announced she would be giving a copy away to a lucky reader I jumped at the chance to enter.
Little did I know a few short days later I’d be receiving an email from Kat herself, telling me ‘Congratulations’ and that the copy of SWMag would be winging it’s way to me very shortly!
My lovely package arrived yesterday morning, so I had to endure an entire day at work knowing it was waiting for me when I got home, but it was sure worth the wait… so many pretty pretty details and lots of inspiration… I’m always on the lookout for how to bring a bit of the South (and Texas in particular) to our reception.
Due to the fact that half our family/friends live in the US, and half in the UK, we decided early on to split sending of save the dates and invitations according to our guests locations. Back in May we mailed the overseas (US) half of our save the dates, I’ll call these Round 1. Naturally, after a further five months of refining my ‘wedding vision’ and also making a start on designing (and redesigning… and re-redesigning) our wedding invitation suite, by the time it came to making save the dates to send to our family and friends here in the UK, things had moved on somewhat.
I really wanted to keep the bird motif. While it hasn’t made it onto our final invitations, I plan to use it further still in our reception and pre-wedding projects. So, without further ado I give you, our UK Save the dates (or, Round 2):
I have a whole other post yet to come on my massive “DIY-to-do” list, but since I managed to get this one ticked off the list I wanted to share it now. Because approximately 25% of our intended guests are from overseas, we decided to send them a note to “save the date” once we got to the ‘one year to go’ mark. Well the time has been and gone (351 days to go y’all!), and those lovely people have by now all received their precious packages in the mail, so I can unveil them and share them with the world at large!
