Being an avid follower of many (MANY) wedding blogs, I quickly noticed that the majority are ‘American’. But this I mean they are written, run by or focussed on Americans/the wedding industry in America. There are some exceptions; I follow a couple of awesome British bridal blogs, as well as one based in the Southern hemisphere (check out my links to the left for a few examples of the awesome sources from which I get my inspiration!). From my avid perusal of these sites I’ve noticed that planning a wedding in the UK is not quite the same as planning a wedding in the USA…
You wouldn’t think that there’d be that much difference between the two (and to be fair, there’s not) but here are a few things I’ve noticed from reading online, and also in conversation with the Mister, and his American friends and family.

One of the initial down-sides of our village hall venue is that we’re not allowed any candles (good old English health and safety!). However, I was ready for this (having had the same experience at another venue we looked at) and I wasn’t about to give up on the idea of romantic candle-light at our evening reception. Fortunately for us, we live in the 21st century – in a world where candles now have batteries! I decided to go for simple LED tea-lights in some kind of frosted votive holder to add a bit of shimmer and shine to our reception tables. Read the rest of this entry »
